The Man on the Moon (Motm) concept is a yearly internal business plan competition among Danfoss employees globally - to develop and present new radical innovations that have the potential to become the ‘next big thing’ for Danfoss.
The MotM concept has been developed by Danfoss Ventures A/S over the last several years.
The primary objectives of the Competition are to stimulate entrepreneurial activities throughout the Danfoss organisation and to generate new business ideas and concepts.
This competition gives the Danfoss employees an opportunity to learn and act as an entrepreneur, to challenge the conventional organisation and thinking, to meet and network with colleagues from across the world, departments and seniority. Many employees have the right idea, but not the opportunity to bring it ahead. The competition helps to realise that potential with its Man on the Moon concept.
The process departs from an inspiration and idea generation phase based on challenges the company faces in the coming years.
The competing teams are composed to develop their ideas over 3 to 4 months while being coached by experienced business developers.
The participants are supported by a number of educational workshops where the teams have the opportunity to qualify, test and systematise their ideas.
Finally, the business ideas are presented to a jury composed of the company's senior management and the winners are rewarded with a substantial prize. The teams behind the best ideas also have the opportunity to get funded and work ahead to realise their business idea.
